While Liz Wardley was sailing on Michel Desjoyeaux' ex-Géant ORMA 60 trimaran in New Zealand, Jean-Baptiste Daramy and the SailingOne team were delivering the SolOceans One-design under jury-rig from Lisbon, where it made a port of call after dismasting, to the SailingOne logistical base in La Trinité-sur-Mer (Morbihan), which it will reach on Sunday or Monday. Driven by leading winds and a solid low pressure area, the SolOceans One-design had sailed half-way through the Bay of Biscay by mid-morning. It is sailing at an average of more than seven knots and this pace should be maintained until it reaches the French coast. “Liz did some excellent work as a sailor when she dismasted, since there is very little collateral damage, despite the conditions in which it happened”, Jean-Baptiste Daramy explained as he left Lisbon, on the evening of Monday 1st February. Once at La Trinité-sur-Mer - which is easier to get to under jury-rig than the SailingOne base in Caen (Normandy) - the SolOceans One-design will return to the boatyard to prepare for the rest of the season of 2010, of which the Route du Rhum next autumn, will be the choice morsel.

Back from Portugal - February 2010 The SolOceans One-design has returned from Lisbon to the SailingOne logistical base in La Trinité-sur-Mer (Morbihan) under jury-rig at an average of more than 6 knots.
