In order to avoid the Force 10 to 12 winds forecasted for Saturday night and Sunday morning, as well as 10-metre high waves, Liz Wardley will cross the start line of the Around-the-world Reference Tour of the SolOceans - OceanoScientific® Campaign 2009-2010 at 1.00pm sharp on Sunday 29 November. Liz Wardley will cast off from Caen la mer urban area at 9.45am sharp. She will enter Ouistreham lock at 11.15am to set sail 20 minutes later. After crossing the start line, Liz Wardley will undertake the official SolOceans coastal course along the shore of Calvados, and will then head North-West and West to get out of the English Channel and round the tip of Brittany. She will then head South to enter the Gulf of Biscay, where she should have fair winds from Monday even though after a 12-day storm the sea should be unsettled.
In October 2009 between Brest and Caen (Normandy - France), Liz Wardley trained in the exact conditions of the competition : single-handed on board the SolOceans One-design.
