Just 1,000 days before the start of the first SolOceans - the first single-handed oceanic round the world race that will be sailed on an equal footing on sixteen-metre high-tech monohulls, all perfectly identical one to another on a France - New Zealand - France course starting on October 25th 2009 - we are happy to inform you that a press conference revealing the Main Sponsor of this international event, will be held in Paris, Wednesday March 7th from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

Advance of the preform - January 18th, 2007 Technologie Marine specialists apply gelcoat to the preform. The construction of the Oceanic One Design®'s hull mould is being carried out and should be delivered Monday, February 12th. To date, the SolOceans' implementation schedule announced during the press conference held at the French Sailing Federation (FFVoile)'s headquarters June 15th 2006, during the chairmanship of Jean-Pierre Champion, President of the FFVoile, has been strictly adhered to.

The Main Sponsor of the SolOceans, whose identity will be disclosed in Paris next March 7th, will give its name to the Oceanic One Design® but also to the OceanoScientific® Programme. The SolOceans indeed has no vocation to ever integrate a partner's name to its name that will always remain: SolOceans.

Amongst the four French start and finish host ports of the SolOceans in competition early winter, two are still in contention. The final decision will be made current March.

Four ports can still aspire to welcome the SolOceans in New Zealand. A new reconnaissance mission will be carried out next April. However, it is most likely that the race organizers will wait for the New Zealander council elections to be over - scheduled mid-September to mid-October - before revealing the name of the chosen port.

All the specialists who are going to intervene on the mass production of the Oceanic One Design® under Christian Brit (SailingOne)'s management are almost completely identified. The list of these partners - service providers - suppliers will be presented during the press conference March 7th.

The first Oceanic One Design® will be launched Monday, July 30th. She will then immediately undergo tests with numerous skilled champions from various international sailing fields, amongst whom, Michel Desjoyeaux (skipper of the Foncia monohull intended for the Vendée Globe 2008), technical consultant of this series designed by the Finot-Conq architect firm, designer of the 18,20-metre monohulls that have won the last four Vendée Globe races.

This first Oceanic One Design® will leave France for New Zealand, Thursday October 25th 2007, exactly two years before the start of the first SolOceans. In order to optimize this test-navigation, the Oceanic One Design® will, just this once, be double-handed and not single-handed. Four skippers from three or four different nationalities will take over onboard on the SolOceans race. To date, the choice of theses three or four skippers is not yet determined.
