Bostik is back in Caen in perfect condition

Monday November 17th 2008 News RSS

Charles Caudrelier arrived this morning in Caen (Normandy - France) under sails through the canal and moored Bostik at around 11.30am in the Nouveau Bassin right where he cast off on December 16th, 2007 for a test-navigation started by a 14,000 nautical mile (26,000km) voyage towards Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. Then, 14,000 additional nautical miles were sailed: across the North Atlantic Ocean between France and New York City, across Northern Europe, Southern Europe, the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Thus, the first unit of the Veolia Oceans® one-design series for the SolOceans was fully tested and made more reliable thanks to those 28,000 nautical miles (52,000km). Just eleven month before the start of the first edition of this great adventure, the Veolia Oceans® one-design is once and for all defined in detail. The Rules of the one-design Class will now be written. Yvan Griboval, CEO of SailingOne took the advantage of this small ceremony organised in the presence of the partners of the SolOceans for the arrival of Bostik, to thank all the companies which permitted to finalize this great high-tech 16-metre carbon machine, among whom Jean-Marie Finot and Pascal Conq (Cabinet Finot - Conq and Associates) her architects and Jean-Marie Vaur (JMV industries) who builds the hulls, the decks and the structural bulkhead in Cherbourg (Normandy - France). In fact, in 28,000 nautical miles sailed in wind between 0 and more than 60 knots, the first unit of the Veolia Oceans® one-design series is back without a single major damage.

Back in Caen - November 17th, 2008 Charles Caudrelier (skipper) and Yann Clavier (boat captain) have sailed Bostik, the first unit of the Veolia Oceans® one-design series back to Caen thus ending a 28,000 (52,000km) nautical mile test-navigation. The Veolia Oceans® one-design series is now perfected and the other units of the series can now be equipped.
