Charles Caudrelier will carry out further test of the first unit of the Veolia Oceans® one-design of the SolOceans sailing in the colours of Bostik (Total Group), between 18 and 22 October on the 606-nautical-mile course of the fortieth edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race starting from Malta in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. Bostik will accompany the 80 boats registered and will officially inaugurate the Veolia Oceans® one-design Class on the Rolex offshore racing circuit composed of the Rolex Middle Sea Race (606 nautical miles), the Rolex Fastnet Race (607 nautical miles) and the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race (628 nautical miles). Charles Caudrelier will be accompanied by Yann Clavier (boat captain) and will be helped by two young solo sailors from the Figaro Bénéteau Circuit. François Gabart who recently finished third in the single-handed race Cap Istanbul on Espoir Région Bretagne will thus embark onboard Bostik. Thomas Rouxel the usual skipper of Défi Mousquetaires will also be part of this test sailing. While the 2007 Rolex Middle Sea Race ended in a storm, this fortieth edition looks not to be that windy. In other words, the Veolia Oceans® will sail in weather conditions it was not conceived for, next to sailing yachts especially designed for this type of weather conditions. An additional reason to meticulously work on each adjustment of the Veolia Oceans® one-design all along those 606 nautical miles of this beautiful race between the islands.
Bostik, the first unit of the Veolia Oceans® one-design series of the SolOceans arrived in Malta on October 15th. She joins the fleet with 80 competitors registered for the fortieth edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race.
