The Oceanic One Design® takes shape

We are happy to provide you with a new picture Jean-Marie Liot took a couple of days ago, showing the progress of the construction of the hull preform of the Oceanic One Design® intended for racing the SolOceans, the single-handed round the world race on an equal footing, that will depart from a French port to New Zealand on October 25th 2009.
Preform of the Oceanic One Design® of the SolOceans that is actually being carried out by Technologie Marine. We notice the nice breadth of the flat-bottomed monohull and its fine stem waterlines, which forecasts a gliding boat and a strong bilge that only starts about two meters behind the stem, synonymous with great power.

Thanks to the rigour of Technologie Marine Company run by Charlie Capelle, in charge of the construction of the hull and deck moulds of the Oceanic One Design® monohulls' designed by Jean-Marie Finot (Finot-Conq Group) in consultation with Michel Desjoyeaux, skipper of Géant trimaran, we are strictly adhering to our schedule.
Therefore, with regard to this schedule, the first Oceanic One Design® will be ready to launch a round the world reconnaissance in October 2007, on the same course as the one the solo-sailors will sail two years later: France - New Zealand - France around the three legendary Capes (Good Hope, Leeuwin and Horn).
Wednesday, November 22nd, answers to the most Frequently Asked Questions will be put online. These are the answers to questioning of skippers, companies, regional and local authorities and medias. Many topics such as the French and New Zealander hosting ports, the construction rate of the Oceanic One Design®, among others, will be broached.
